Proprioception

Our proprioceptive system has its foundations in our muscles and joints.  It sends information to our brain about how our body is moving and with how much force our muscles are acting.  So if your child has a difficult time doing things either too forcefully or without enough pressure, then they aren’t getting adequate information from their proprioceptive system.  Proprioception is also universally calming, so no matter what your child’s sensory makeup or preferences, these activities are GREAT for any child for setting them up because of the calming endorphins that are released when doing these activities.
